Lord Cornwallis was born 27 May 1864 at Chalcombe Priory, Banbury, Oxfordshire, the eldest son of Fiennes Cornwallis
〔 Was born ''Fiennes Wykeham-Martin'', but changed his name to ''Cornwallis'' after an inheritance.〕
and Harriet Elizabeth (née Mott).
Had one brother and two sisters

His siblings were:-
* Arthur Wykeham Cornwallis 1865– 1952.
* Helen Florence Cornwallis 1867– 1957.
* Caroline Vere Cornwallis 1868– 1909.

and was educated at Eton College.
